Why doesn’t KilgourMD use zinc pyrithione?Updated 13 hours ago
Zinc pyrithione (ZPT) is no longer permitted for use in cosmetic products in the European Union.
In 2021, EU regulators concluded that zinc pyrithione did not meet updated safety requirements for cosmetic use and subsequently banned its inclusion across all EU cosmetics, including shampoos.
Because KilgourMD is uncompromising when it comes to the safety and wellbeing of our customers, and formulates with global safety standards and long-term scalp health in mind, we made a deliberate decision not to include zinc pyrithione in our Shampoo. Instead, we focus on modern, barrier-supportive ingredients that help improve scalp appearance and reduce visible flakes without relying on ingredients that are being phased out internationally.
